Course Project

Observation of self psychology cases

I am honored to be able to offer a 62 week course with the Psychology Pro team. In the course, I will teach analytical psychotherapy through a series of video counseling demonstrations. I have been working with the organizers and translators in a clinical case supervision group for many years, and this course is a new attempt for us. My treatment method is based on the Object relations theory, and strengthens the treatment by linking the Object relations theory and attachment research. There are more detailed explanations in several books I have published, including "Introduction to Object Relations" in the second edition and "Projective and Intrinsic Identity: Self Application in Psychoanalytic Therapy" that have been translated into Chinese.

We invite you to join this innovative course that teaches individual therapy through on-site interviews and dialogues. During the discussion after the interview, I will provide my motivational understanding and the dialectic of empathy and anti empathy, and invite you to provide feedback. Through the discussion of case studies, we can gain access to the wisdom of learning groups, thereby gaining a more comprehensive understanding of patients' symptomatology, dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and history in family and culture. The content of group discussions will guide subsequent clinical interventions.

If you have a certain foundation of psychoanalytic theory and clinical experience, but still often feel confused or even skeptical about how to use psychoanalytic theory effectively and deeply in a consultation, then I think this course is precisely prepared for you.

Experience the complete one-on-one treatment of the top international psychoanalyst Jill Scharff on site, presenting the consultation in a comprehensive and authentic manner. After each treatment, JILL teachers will interpret their own treatment process and answer questions. This course selects four representative cases to observe on site how the teacher can use psychoanalysis to achieve short-term, medium to long-term treatment.

In addition, in order to help students integrate theory, under the guidance of professional teaching assistants, we will discuss books and literature specifically recommended by JILL teacher, and further digest and absorb them based on on-site cases.

The origin of this course can be said to be an asymptotic and natural process. Teacher JILL has been teaching in China every year for the past decade before the epidemic, and has great interest and enthusiasm for the development and application of psychoanalysis in China. We have collaborated with our teachers for 6 consecutive rounds of online case supervision teaching in recent years, which has greatly benefited many participating students. Some students have reported that during the process of being supervised by JILL teacher, they can feel how JILL teacher treats her own visitors. So imagine how great it would be to be able to watch Teacher JILL treat cases on site! At first, there were many concerns, which had been brewing for a long time. I tried to communicate with Teacher JILL, but I didn't expect Teacher JILL to be very interested in exploring this possibility. Teacher JILL also carefully considered some time, including the effort and coordination of time, mainly discussing and demonstrating some ethics, including how to protect participating visitors, the ethical and professional requirements of participating students, and so on. Ultimately, this rare course was facilitated.

If you are a psychoanalytic or Psychodynamics oriented psychological worker, the value of this course needs no more words, and it may help you avoid 3 to 5 years, or even 10 years of detours in the clinical process!
